VASER Lipo Recovery – What You Need To Know Before Your Procedure

Looking in the mirror, you see that even after all that time working out and meal planning, it’s still there.

That little bit of stubborn, resistant fat just refuses to go away.

You’re frustrated that it feels like it won’t ever change. You’ve heard VASER Liposuction has worked for others, but you don’t know if it will work for you.

In this article, we’ll explain what VASER Liposuction is, how it works, and what the recovery is like for this fat-reduction procedure.

What Is VASER Lipo?

VASER is an acronym for Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance.

VASER Liposuction is the new standard of cosmetic procedures that removes fat deposits from under the skin.

This precise, minimally-invasive procedure is tissue-selective — targeting fat cells while protecting other tissues from damage. While multiple forms of liposuction are currently offered, VASER Lipo is unique in its ultrasonic technique, which breaks fat deposits down to be gently and easily removed.

VASER Liposuction Pros And Cons

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, over 250,000 liposuction procedures are completed every year.

That means that for 250,000 people every year, the pros outweigh the cons of liposuction.

What are the VASER Liposuction pros and cons, specifically?

VASER Lipo Pros

Here are some of our favorite VASER Lipo benefits:

  • Minimally invasive
  • Promotes skin tightening
  • No damage to surrounding tissue or nerves
  • The most precise technique available
  • Short recovery time after VASER Lipo

VASER Lipo Cons

VASER Liposuction is considered a low-risk procedure, but that doesn’t mean it is without potential side effects:

  • Eventual scarring after healing from liposuction
  • Bruising and bleeding in the days after the procedure
  • Swelling and pain after the procedure
  • Possibility of skin discoloration after the procedure

Ideal Candidates For VASER Liposuction

The ideal candidate for VASER Liposuction is:

  • A healthy individual;
  • At or slightly above their ideal weight; and
  • Has isolated areas for fat reduction.

If you haven’t been able to erase that last area of fat through diet and exercise, then VASER Liposuction could be a good option for you.

VASER Liposuction is appropriate for people who are trying to spot-treat fat deposits and reveal muscle tone underneath.

VASER Lipo Treatment Areas

VASER Liposuction can get you amazing results in isolated areas.

We’ve seen great results in the following areas:

  • Back, buttocks, and thighs
  • Chest
  • Hips and thighs
  • Jowls, chin, and neck
  • Upper back
  • Waistline and stomach

Multiple areas can be targeted during the same procedure.

VASER Lipo Procedure Steps

What is VASER Lipo? How does it work?

Here are the four main steps for the procedure:

VASER Lipo Step 1: Infiltration

During this step, the fatty layer is injected with tumescent fluid.

The fluid is a combination of:

  • Saltwater
  • An anesthetic
  • Epinephrine.

The saltwater aids fat removal, while the epinephrine causes the blood vessels to constrict in the area being treated.

VASER Lipo Step 2: Ultrasound Delivery

Ultrasonic probes are inserted through small incisions in the skin to break up the fatty tissue.

The ultrasonic probe disrupts the connection between the fatty tissue and muscle layers underneath.

This process differentiates VASER Lipo from traditional liposuction. Traditional lipo crudely suctions away solid fat.

VASER Lipo Step 3: Aspiration

As the fatty tissue gently starts to break apart, a cannula will be used to vacuum out the fatty tissue as well as most of the fluid.

VASER Lipo Step 4: Skin Retraction

During the healing process, the skin will retract to form smooth, natural-looking results.

VASER Lipo Before And After

We’re here to fully explain VASER Lipo. Before and after pictures, however, are EACH worth a thousand words when discussing VASER Lipo. See some for yourself on our website

But, is VASER lipo effective?

Men and women are genetically predisposed to distribute fat either to their belly (men) or thighs and buttocks (women).

Let’s see how this affected Jessica, a recent VASER Lipo patient:

Jessica had worked to improve her diet and increase her exercise over the course of 18 months, but her fat loss had plateaued. Her body continued to fight against losing her last stores of thigh fat.

Jessica was a little nervous to go in for her VASER Liposuction procedure, but she went in on a Friday morning and spent the weekend recovering.

The next week she went back to work as the swelling decreased. She started seeing the finely-defined thighs she had been dreaming of.

Over the next few weeks, Jessica began going back to her yoga classes in the mornings before work and bought a new swimsuit to celebrate her toned thighs.

Liposuction Downtime

Congratulations, your procedure is done and you’re ready for your recovery and results!

After the procedure, you may experience some:

  • Bruising
  • Swelling
  • Soreness

However, VASER Liposuction downtime can be dramatically shorter than traditional liposuction. We advise most patients to take one or two days off work once the VASER Lipo is complete.

After the procedure, you’ll need to take two to three weeks of minimal activity to help with recovery as well.

During the first several weeks post-procedure you’ll also need to wear a compression garment to help reduce the swelling. This also helps the skin settle into its modified form.

How Long Does Swelling Last After VASER Lipo?

With the help of a compression garment, most swelling in the targeted area or areas should be gone after two to three weeks.

You’ll start to see the results more clearly as your body settles into its modified form over the next three to six months.

VASER Lipo Recovery Pain

After the VASER Liposuction, your body may be slightly bruised and swollen in the targeted area or areas.

Some people claim that VASER technology makes recovery less painful and healing faster than traditional liposuction.

VASER Lipo recovery pain is usually considered mild to moderate.

VASER Lipo Recovery Tips

Everyone’s recovery will be slightly different depending on what area or areas you had treated.

However, we have a few common VASER Lipo Recovery Tips:

#1 Don’t Push Yourself Too Fast

We suggest having assistance for the first 24 to 48 hours after your procedure to help you around the house.

#2 Take a Walk

Walking promotes blood circulation without causing overexertion.

By increasing your blood circulation you’ll help reduce swelling and facilitate the healing process.

#3 Hydrate

You lose a lot of water during the procedure, and you’ll need it to help flush the anesthesia from your system. So drink plenty of fluids.
